LJCF Highlights Village Streetscape Plan at Enhance La Jolla Day

On May 13, the La Jolla Community Foundation (LJCF) participated in the highly anticipated third annual Enhance La Jolla Day, where community members and participating organizations gathered to learn about the transformative Village Streetscape Plan. The event, which took place on the block set to be the first area of revitalization, Girard Avenue and Silverado Street, was a resounding success, generating excitement and fostering meaningful interactions among locals.

Councilmember Joe LaCava and Ed Witt, Chair of Enhance La Jolla, warmly welcomed the public, commending the accomplishments of Enhance La Jolla and highlighting the fruitful partnership with the La Jolla Community Foundation in implementing the Village Streetscape Plan.

According to Susan McClellan, LJCF Board Member and Development Committee Co-Chair, sharing the Plan with the community during the event sparked great enthusiasm: "The buzz of locals interacting is precisely what we hope for once we complete the first phase, which will add inviting gathering areas amidst beautiful landscaping and streetscaping."

Among the lead donors in attendance, Tom Sudberry expressed his and his wife, Cookie Sudberry’s excitement about the project's growing momentum and eagerly look forward to witnessing the positive transformation of the Village of La Jolla.

Phyllis Pfeiffer, LJCF Chair, captured the experience, saying, "Although the sun never came out Saturday morning, a lot of La Jollans came out to participate in the event. It was wonderful to see the excitement and enthusiasm for the Streetscape Plan."

The Village Streetscape Plan aims to enhance the Village of La Jolla's aesthetic appeal, create inviting gathering spaces, and enrich the local community experience. The plan's implementation will transform key areas into vibrant and dynamic spaces that reflect the unique spirit of La Jolla.
