LA JOLLA COMMUNITY FOUNDATION AWARDED 501(c)(3) NONPROFIT STATUS

La Jolla Community Foundation (LJCF) has received an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit status from the Internal Revenue Service. Established in 2008, the LJCF operated as an affiliate of the San Diego Foundation (SDF). The independent entity status will allow the foundation to be more responsive to the needs of La Jolla.

The mission of LJCF is to support the development, launch and completion of improvement projects and services that enhance the environmental, cultural, and commercial community of La Jolla.  Through the generous support of donors, the LJCF completed several successful initiatives in La Jolla. Most notably, the LJCF led and underwrote the formation of the Maintenance Assessment District (MAD) in the Village and launched and developed the Murals of La Jolla, now a project of the Athenaeum.

LJCF’s current project, the Village Streetscape Plan, is a collaborative rehabilitation project designed to improve the pedestrian experience in the Village. Phase one will bring corner parks, upgraded landscaping with tree canopies and enhanced lighting to Girard Avenue.

The LJCF raises funds through membership and donations. To learn more or get involved, please reach out to LJCF’s newly appointed executive director, Lidia Rossner, at (858) 257-7100 or via email at lrossner@ljcommunityfoundation.org.
