LJCF October 2020 Newsletter

We hope this update finds you and your loved ones healthy and well.

Although we cannot meet or gather amid the pandemic, the board of the La Jolla Community Foundation continues to actively seek funding for the Streetscape project.

Comparable to piazzas throughout Europe, the proposed Promenade overlooking Cove Park will be transformative for the La Jolla community. Planners say the pedestrian-only plaza will serve as an inviting, appealing public space where community members and visitors can enjoy the outdoors and views of the La Jolla shoreline. Two-way traffic will be directed to The Dip and diagonal spaces on the south side of lower Girard Avenue will be designed to accommodate parking.

UPDATE (June 2022): Phase I of the Streetscape project has been redefined to restore and rehabilitate three public right-of-way areas in La Jolla Village, starting with improvements at the intersection of Wall Street and Girard Avenue with landscaped pop-outs, seating, art sculpture and lighting. We will then continue working our way down Girard to the center of Girard crosswalk and the Silverado intersection.
